Just some of my thoughts on “share the wealth”. I was amazed when I first heard the words “evil corporate America”. I was further amazed when I heard that people actually believed that the “rich” should share their wealth through higher taxation. I dared to ask why. Why should we demand someone who built up a business to take away from that business and share it with anyone including the government? This especially makes no sense when we need small businesses to grow and develop jobs that have been displaced by free trade agreements. Businesses that have their profit margins reduced because of increasing cost, including higher taxes, cut back on their expenses. Expenses in a small business include resources to make products, hiring workers to produce products, upkeep and improving the physical structure, and expanding their business. Reducing profit margins of businesses is not sound economic practice. We also need to ask the most important question of all: “Who are we sharing the wealth with?”
