GarysWorld ‘Nuff Said’

What are the odds of a coach starting the second half of the Super Bowl with a onside kick?
Why did coach Payton go for a touchdown near the end of the first half?

Good questions asked by armchair quarterbacks around the world.

Well as a former football player and coach, i want to say that Sean Payton has the guts and foresight that separate the good coaches from the greatest coaches.  He took some chances, but they were well thought out, and craftily calculated.  In my humble opinion he was doing everything he possibly could to give the Saints the opportunity to gain momentum

In the first quarter it was looking like the Saints might get blown out.  After they settled down in the second quarter, it was turning into a battle.  This amazing coach realized that they needed more to gain the advantage.  Thus the so called ‘gambles’ took place.  Sean Payton took the challenge on his shoulders.  He believed in his team, and they believed in him.  With a couple of breaks they were able to change the game.  This ol hillbilly believes this game ranks as the best game in Super Bowl history because of the courage of a coach, and the belief of a team in that coach.

Sean Payton is a real hero in the world of sports.

The Super Bowl’s Buzziest Ads

CareerBuilder and Dockers | Pants?! We don’t need no stinkin’ pants! Back-to-back commercials pushed the anti-pants agenda. The first, for CareerBuilder.com, featured a new employee surrounded by co-workers who take “casual Fridays” a bit too literally. The second, for Dockers, had a group of underwear-clad men singing about their missing slacks. For those who didn’t think anybody wore tighty-whiteys any more, we present two commercials that offer disturbing proof to the contrary…

Porter’s pick helps write new Saints history

You can follow Charles Robinson on Twitter at @YahooSportsNFL | MIAMI – A few hours before the greatest moment of his football career, New Orleans Saints cornerback Tracy Porter(notes) was in a chair, in his hotel, getting the most prophetic haircut of his life. Three images were being carved into his head: a Lombardi Trophy, the Louisiana Superdome and “SB44″ – an homage to Super Bowl XLIV.

Super Who

At first Roger Daltrey didn’t want to play the Super Bowl at all. And Pete Townshend considered pulling out after they’d signed on. | But The Who took the stage in Miami after all, with Townshend dressed as a subway busker and Daltrey an English dandy, both singing live and loud. Not the best Who concert ever, but they certainly didn’t sink to the level of Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons of KISS hawking cherry Dr. Pepper in a Super Bowl commercial.

Check out the always entertaining commercials from Super Sunday, and watch your favorites over and over again. | Drew Brees and the Saints take down the Colts with a 31-17 win in Super Bowl XLIV. | Tracy Porter picks off a Peyton Manning pass and takes it back for a back-breaking Saints TD. | Drew Brees throws two TD passes, leading the Saints to their first Super Bowl title. | Watch as Tom Benson and the Saints are presented the Lombardi Trophy.

New Orleans Saints vs. Indianapolis Colts

This game shows the NFL is too good to risk a stoppage for labor issues, writes Gene Wojciechowski. Story | That Drew Brees outplayed a quarterback legend in Peyton Manning is just one of the things we learned about this Super Bowl, writes John Clayton. Story | It was the uncannily accurate Brees and the ability of his receivers to break open that made the difference in the end, writes Len Pasquarelli.

White House announces televised health meet

President Barack Obama is planning to host a televised meeting with Republican and Democratic congressional leaders on health care reform. | The Feb. 25 meeting is an attempt to reach across the aisle but not a signal that the president plans to start over, as Republicans have demanded, a White House official said.
